Bedroom Remodel Update

As promised, here are the photos of our bedroom remodel.

A close up of my paper flowers. These were my second attempt at making these flowers from dyed coffee filters. I used wooden skewers for the stems and trimmed the ends to add dimension.

Andrew and I bought this print on our honeymoon for 10 euros.
 Wedding photo and bouquet.
My adorable wooden wagon and the quilt Andrew's mom made us for our wedding.

And, that was our bedroom remodel! It is a much nicer place to hang out in. We love it!

Homemade Home Decor!

I absolutely LOVE Pinterest. I am completely addicted! I have wanted to incorporate more color into our living room (teal/blue/cream) which is mostly brown and black. So, I found new lamp shades for our lamps. I actually recycled two lamp shades that were given to us with lamp stands for Christmas a while back. We had since replaced the lamps but the shades look beautiful. I was then able to find and buy a matching large shade for our floor lamp.

Next, a few accents...

Paper Peonies:

I got this idea on Pinterest (did I mention I love this site?). Thank you Our Lake Life, this was so much fun and such a great idea!

To make, use coffee filters and soak them in hot water mixed with food dye (I used about 30 drops). Then let them dry. Twist them in the middle (1-3). I didn't have the special tape and stems mentioned in Our Lake Life. Instead, I used wire and twisted it around the pinched part with a long tale for the "stem."

We only had the brown, unbleached coffee filters. I wasn't sure how it was going to look but I used blue and it turned them into a gorgeous teal color! I then soaked some filters in water mixed with bleach to make a lighter, aged tan color. Next, arrange in a vase and find a prominent spot to display your art!

The adorable tea light holder is a part of a set of 8 that we were given that used to belong to Andrew's grandparents. They are actually fruit dishes!

Coffee Table Spheres:

Once again, I got this idea on Pinterest. Thank you to The Not So Functional Housewife for such a fantastic idea
It is quite simple. Take styrofoam balls and hot glue strips of scrapbook paper or ribbon. I love the spheres made out of ribbon best (3/4" wide). Any larger than 1/2-3/4" wide and it doesn't look so good (as you will see below). However, because ribbon can be expensive, use scrapbook paper instead. I used both to add texture.

This is made out of scrapbook paper.

Buy these as a great "filler" sphere at Walmart for about $5. You can leave them as is like I did or spray paint them a fun color.

This is our favorite. It is made out of ribbon and was the easiest to work with!

This is the sphere covered with thick ribbon. As you can see, it doesn't look all that great. I put this at the very bottom of the bowl to add height!:D

All of my cute spheres ready to go in the bowl.

I put the bowl on the bottom shelf of the coffee table. The top of the table is a pane of glass so you can see the bowl through the top.

And those are my creations! Super fun and affordable!!! I love the color they add and the fun that I had while making them. Next, I plan on using my sewing machine to make new pillow cases (blue of course!).
